About
Judy
The award winning artist in the central valley of California. Her love
of art goes back to early childhood. Combined with her love of horses and the
outdoors, this love of art has beautiful expression in paintings that people
admire and enjoy.
Having raised three children, she now devotes time to honing her skills at oils,
both pleinaire and at her easel. She accurately depicts horses because she owns
and rides one which gives her close perspective into their personality. The
chickens she paints are also enjoyed at stables everywhere; they are a ready
subject also.
She has painted many commissions of animal portraits as well as polo games in
progress! The person most influential in her equine painting is Joan McIntyre, a
contemporary equine artist now living in North Carolina. When she lived close
by, Judy took advantage of many instructional hours with Joan.
Workshops are another way she continues her education. Many California artists
have conducted short, intense five day courses, which help direct her talents in
correct application of classical techniques. She has taken this type of
instruction from Camile Przewodek, Elizabeth Tolley, Ray Roberts and Paul Buxman
during the last few years.
Murals painted in acrylics and other mediums have been done also, to lend
variety and spice to her artistic career. She has dabbled in Ceramics & glass
painting. Her painted tiles have been installed in bathrooms as permanent
artwork. The direction her art is taking is to paint portraits of children. With
this challenge, she is continuing to increase in knowledge & ability in order to
become proficient in this also.
